Remembrance Day
Last Saturday marked Remembrance Day, a solemn occasion where we honour the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when peace emerged on the Western Front, signifying the end of World War I in 1918. Throughout the past century, this moment has been embraced worldwide as a time to commemorate the service and sacrifices of those who served in all conflicts. On this day, we remember the lives given in service to our country, those who returned injured, and those currently serving.
Executive Director Transition at Catholic Education WA
We received news from the Bishops of Western Australia regarding the conclusion of Dr. Debra Sayce's tenure as the Executive Director of Catholic Education WA on December 31, 2023. Dr. Sayce will be assuming the role of inaugural Head of Mission Enhancement and Outreach for the Archdiocesan Agencies in the Archdiocese of Perth. The Bishops have appointed Mr. Wayne Bull, the current Deputy Executive Director, to take on the role of Executive Director for 2024.
NFL National Competition
Ten of our Tear 6 students have proudly represented WA in a national competition hosted in Queensland. Even though we did not come away as overall winners I was very proud of each child. Not only did they do a wonderful job representing our school, but they were exceptional WA ambassadors.
Premier’s Reading Challenge Achievements
Congratulations to all students for triumphing in The Premier’s Reading Challenge in the 401 to 600 student category. A special commendation goes to our exceptional Library Technician, Mrs. Tomazin, who clinched the inaugural Challenge Champion of Champions title!
BWA Summer Slam Northam Cup Victory
Our remarkable year 6 girls' basketball team has secured the title of BWA Summer Slam Northam Cup champions! Defeating mixed teams from the wheatbelt in every game, they've now earned an invitation to the Champions Cup!
Harmony Day Celebrations
Commencing with drumming, the Harmony Day celebration was a fantastic way to immerse the children in the spirit of the day. It was heart warming to witness numerous kids wear traditional attire, and we were especially delighted to have several parents joining in to share their cultural heritage. Thank you to all those parents who supported this day.
Obstacle-a-thon Event
What an amazing day we had for the Obstacle-a-thon. All our students conquered the challenging course throughout the school. It was wonderful to see many parents volunteering on the day. Without the efforts of the P&F and parents volunteers we wouldn’t be able to run these events. Your ongoing support is much appreciated.

Many Gifts, One Spirit Award
Congratulations to our most recent Many Gifts, One Spirit Award recipients in acknowledgement of showing the school value of Diversity during Term 4, 2023:
Sophie
Sophie is very deserving of this award because Sophie is an all-round kind student. I have many wonderful things I could say about Sophie and if I did we would be here for hours, but in particular about Diversity, she is always accepting of others. She celebrates her friends' achievements, cheers them on and most recently for Harmony Day was very complimentary to her peers culture and their wonderful cultural dress. On many occasions I heard her say how beautiful or awesome her peers looked. Well done Sophie. I am a very proud teacher.
William
Good Shepherd’s commitment to diversity is not just about recognising multicultural backgrounds; it’s about embracing the unique qualities, abilities, and gifts that each of us bring to our school. William embodies this spirit wholeheartedly. His ability to accept everyone is inspiring. He has fostered a sense of belonging. William’s actions speak volumes about his character whether it’s through his advocacy for cultural awareness, his support for individuals or simply the kindness he extends to all, William’s impact on those he has met, is immeasurable.
