Message from the Principal
National Sorry Day
National Sorry day was held last Friday. It is named as such as the word “sorry” is very significant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples when thinking about sad events and difficult times. This is often known as “sorry business”. All students engaged in child friendly PowerPoints learning about the significance of the day.
Eagles Rock My School
We were very fortunate to have Eagles Rock My School visit us. It was a two part program. The first part was an incursion for kindy-year 3 students where Rick the Rock taught our junior primary students how to make healthy choices, show respect and achieve your best. (Ask Mr B about this as he played a very special part!!) The second part of Eagles Rock my school was a footy clinic with 3 West Coast Eagles players on the oval with our sensory students.
SEDA Cricket Program
Our senior students took part in cricket clinics run by students from SEDA College. They learnt about the fundamentals of cricket while getting active! Cricket is a good sport for developing overall fitness, stamina and hand–eye coordination.
Extra-Long Weekend Approaching
A reminder to parents that the school will have additional closure days attached to the June long weekend. The school will also be closed on Tuesday 2nd June, with students returning on Wednesday 7th June. I hope all families enjoy the extended long weekend break.
God Bless

Year 6 Senior Leaders
Last week on the 6th of May, we celebrated National Sorry Day. We commemorated the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people.
Over the past few weeks a lot of classes have been away on excursions to various places. Some of these places include the Year 4’s going to Kings Park and the Year 1’s and 5’s going to Constable Care.
The Year 6’s are very excited to participate in the Indigenous Sport Carnival next week on the June. In addition to this, we have been getting ready for the Winter Sport Carnival in Week 9 where we will compete in footy, soccer and netball.
Hope you had a great week and have a happy weekend!

Premier's Reading Challenge
We have lots of students who have registered for the Premier’s Reading Challenge and logging in their books each week. These students are in the weekly prize draw for many wonderful prizes including tourism, technology, author workshops, book packs and much more.
Good Shepherd won the best school award last year for our registrations and logging in books and would love to win again as this will benefit our students as the whole school will win a major prize at the end of this challenge.
What a wonderful literacy engagement program to encourage students to read and build positive relationships to reading.
Please register using this link and go to “support” for sign in details https://www.premiersreadingchallenge.wa.edu.au/students
If you are not sure how to register, please let Mrs. Tomazin know and she will register your child and log in their books for you.

World's Greatest Shave
With no screening programs available and no means of prevention through lifestyle changes, blood cancer is Australia's hidden cancer crisis. Every day, 53 Aussies are diagnosed with blood cancer, and 16 will lose their life. We can't delay taking action together. That's why we have decided to take part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave. We will be raising crucial funds that help give those facing blood cancer all the support and information they need, while driving breakthrough research projects discovering better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer. You have the power to help me make an extraordinary difference. Big or small, every donation counts. Will you help by sponsoring us?
