Message from the Principal

Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you all had a wonderful break and are relaxed for the start of the second term. As we begin this new term, I extend a warm welcome to Mrs Ebonie Mackenzie, our new Kindy Teacher. We also welcome two new special needs assistants Miss Ella Collins and Miss Bri Wilson.

We encourage all families to stay connected with the school through our regular communication channels, including our newsletter, SEESAW and website. These provide valuable information about school events, activities, and achievements, as well as tips and resources to support your child's learning and wellbeing.

Many Gifts, One Spirit

At Good Shepherd Catholic School, our motto encapsulates the spirit of unity and diversity that thrives within our classrooms, playgrounds, and beyond.

“Many Gifts” represents that we believe that each individual within our community possesses unique gifts and talents. Every child at Good Shepherd brings something valuable to our community, whether it be in academics, sports, arts, music, leadership, or service. We foster an inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to explore and develop their individual gifts, appreciating the diversity that enriches our school culture.

"One Spirit" represents the unity and harmony that binds us together as a community. It highlights our shared values, sense of belonging, and the strong relationships built among students, teachers, parents, and staff. At Good Shepherd, we strive to cultivate a nurturing environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and connected. This spirit of togetherness fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

Child Safe

The well-being and safety of all students is the highest priority for Good Shepherd Catholic School.  Good Shepherd Catholic School is committed to child safety and leading and supporting a child-safe culture for all our schools, care centres and communities. We encourage and support every member of our school communities to make good decisions that always keep the best interests of the child or young person first.

More information can be located on our school website: Child Safety – Good Shepherd (gsl.wa.edu.au)

ANZAC Day Liturgy

Thankyou to Mrs Cardi and our year 6 students who prepared and presented the ANZAC service. I was so proud of all the students who were very respectful during this service. Anzac Day is held on April 25 each year, it is a national day of remembrance for Australians and New Zealanders at home and around the world. The day marks the anniversary of the first big military action by Australian and New Zealand soldiers in World War I on April 25, 1915.

God Bless

Farewell

Newsletter Week 2 - Term 2 2023

It is with both celebration and a hint sadness that we farewell someone who has been an integral part of our school for the past 27 years. It is our honour to pay tribute to Jackie Huntington who is retiring from her role as a teacher assistant. Jackie has dedicated her life to fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment, touching the lives of countless students. Her warm smile, kind heart, and genuine care for each child made her a valuable member of our community.

While we bid farewell to Jackie, we also recognize that this is a well-deserved moment for her to start a new adventure. Retirement offers the opportunity to not only spend time with her grandchild but to also pursue personal interests and embrace the joys that lie ahead. We wish her abundant happiness, good health, and fulfillment in all her future endeavours.

Year 6 Senior Leaders

Newsletter Week 2 - Term 2 2023

This term has been very exciting starting with the announcements of the term 2 senior leaders. Congratulations to Amillia and Jayden for being elected term 2 senior leaders.

We would also like to thank Mrs Huntington for her amazing service and teachings that she shared during her time as an AE. It was much appreciated and didn’t go unnoticed. We wish her all the best for the future and hope she achieves her goals.

On the 10th of May, Good Shepherd will have to dress up in the 80’s. Students are allowed to wear bright colours and colourful eyeshadow for that day.

World's Greatest Shave

Newsletter Week 2 - Term 2 2023

With no screening programs available and no means of prevention through lifestyle changes, blood cancer is Australia's hidden cancer crisis. Every day, 53 Aussies are diagnosed with blood cancer, and 16 will lose their life. We can't delay taking action together. That's why we have decided to take part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave. We will be raising crucial funds that help give those facing blood cancer all the support and information they need, while driving breakthrough research projects discovering better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer. You have the power to help me make an extraordinary difference. Big or small, every donation counts. Will you help by sponsoring us?
