Bright Futures Start with Healthy Minds
Keeping our kids' bodies and minds healthy is a priority for us all. The alarming increase in the dangers of online activity is almost a daily occurrence. Parents, however, can actively help. We have just launched our Bright Futures Start with Healthy Minds campaign, which aims to assist parents in navigating this ever-changing issue.
Throughout the campaign, we will send out information on how parents can help. The Midvale Hub Parenting Service is assisting us by providing a FREE workshop, Raising Children in a Digital World, which will be held at school on Wednesday, 18 September, from 12:40 pm to 2:40 pm. Book Week
What a spectacular Book Week Parade we had! The energy and excitement was great as students and staff, embraced the joy of reading with colourful costumes and enthusiastic participation. A special highlight of the day was the appearance of Dewey, the friendly mascot from the Premier's Reading Challenge. Dewey brought smiles to everyone's faces and reminded us all of the importance of reading in our daily lives. It was heartwarming to see our students so engaged and inspired to continue their reading journeys.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year's Book Week Parade a memorable event. Your creativity, spirit, and love for reading truly made this day one to remember. Once again a special thank you to Mrs Tomazin for her continued enthusiasm and joy she passes on to each and everyone of us.

Please be aware that this Monday, 26 August, is a Pupil Free Day.

Senior Leaders Message
Hello families,
The past two weeks , we have been doing lots of amazing stuff. Last week we learnt about FOGO bins. This new bin is coming to many of our homes in the City of Swan and we did a sorting activity of what goes in the red, yellow and the new FOGO bin. The whole school attended the Assumption of Mary mass last week. DEWEY came to our school this week as part of the Premier's Reading Challenge. We have been looking forward for weeks to this and on the same day it was our book week-up day, where we dressed up as our favourite book characters. A big thank you to Mrs Tomazin who organised such a successful and enjoying day.

Premier Reading Challenge
Congratulations to all our students who won the early prize “DEWEY experience” from the Premier’s Reading Challenge!!!!
DEWEY performed a reading musical storytime with his team of dancers on our Book Week Dress Up Day and the students were so excited to see him. It was a day we will always remember celebrating books and reading with the wonderful DEWEY experience.
Thank you for all your support with students dressing up in their favourite book characters. The students loved celebrating their characters and books in the most fun way. What an amazing and beautiful community spirit fostering our love of reading and books with a special guest DEWEY.
Thank you, also for all your support in registering our students for the Premier’s Reading Challenge and because of all the registrations we won the DEWEY experience. The students were so excited and had been waiting in anticipation for this day to see DEWEY.

Education Minister's Running Challenge
About the challenge
Get up, get moving – let’s get running!
Lace up for the chance to win weekly prizes in the 2024 Education Minister’s Running Challenge.
The challenge was established in 2023 to:
- encourage students to run regularly
- develop a love for physical exercise
- improve health and fitness levels.
Whether you’re a student or education staff member, the Education Minister wants you to get up, get moving, and get running from Monday 15 July to Friday 13 September.
The mission is for primary school students to run, walk or wheel for 20 minutes per week, while secondary students and education staff complete 30 minutes per week.
Any running, walking, or wheeling counts toward the challenge.
It’s a great excuse to get together, have fun with friends, and get active at the same time.
Each runner who logs their activity throughout the challenge, goes into the draw to win a weekly prize and up to 4,000 students receive free entry into the Perth Running Festival Burswood Park 4km Dash on Sunday 6 October, at Optus Stadium.
All runners who participate in the challenge will receive a special certificate signed by the Education Minister.
