Principal Message

Mother’s Day

What a wonderful turnout we had for our Mother’s Day breakfast. Thank you to the P&F for their organisation of the event, and a big thank you to all the parents who volunteered to assist on the day. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who shape their children through everything they do. Mary, the mother of Jesus, showed her unwavering faith, resilience, and profound love for her son and is a timeless example of a mum’s love. To all the mothers in our Good Shepherd community, I wish you a Happy Mother’s Day, and may your day be filled with love, joy, and cherished moments.

Disabled bays

There are a number of disabled bays in the church and school car park. Please ensure that you keep these bays free for those with ACROD stickers. We have a number of elderly visitors who require these bays, along with parents and students.

Screen Time

Technology plays an increasingly important role in our daily lives, it's vital to acknowledge the importance of creating healthy habits and mindful usage, especially concerning screen time. Maintaining a balance and ensuring that our children's screen time is both constructive and regulated is important. The eSafety Commissioner offers a wealth of information and guidance for parents concerning online safety and the digital realm. The following link provides valuable tips and strategies for managing screen time within the home environment.  Click HERE

Extra-Long Weekend Approaching

A reminder to parents that the school will have additional closure days attached to the June long weekend in a couple of weeks’ time. The school will also be closed on Friday 31st May, with students returning on Wednesday 5th June. I hope all families enjoy the extended long weekend break.

God Bless

Seniors Leader Message

This week the Year Six students had training for the the Indigenous sports carnival. Mother's Day is coming soon, so many classes have been busy getting their surprises ready for mum . We all love the Premiers Reading Challenge and anyone can sign up. We would really appreciate it as our school has won two years in a row, and if we win again, we get to meet the mascot of the premiers reading challenge, Dewy! We would love to keep up the winning streak! Lastly, we would like to congratulate all the interschool swimmers for their fantastic effort. Also, to all mothers reading this, we hope you have an excellent Mother's Day and get lots of presents. Thank you and by for now!

Premier Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge has commenced for 2024 for students in Kindy to Year 6. We had 86% of the school register last year with students reading and logging in their books each week.

Good Shepherd is very proud to have won the best school award 2022 and 2023 for our registrations and logging in books and would love to win again as this will benefit our students as the whole school will win a major prize at the end of this challenge and wonderful recognition of the students’ achievements in reading.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a 4-month journey starting 6th May and ending 6th September. Students need to have read 12 or more books and will receive a very special certificate when the challenge ends in September. Books to log in include library books, take home readers, reading a story to your child, public library books, books at home, comics, short stories, magazines, lyrics and much more. Books read by me at Storytime also count. When students log in their books, they are in the draw for a weekly prize including books, kindles, vouchers and much more. What a wonderful literacy engagement program to encourage students to read and build positive relationships to reading.

Please click HERE and go to “support” for sign in details

Mrs. Tomazin is happy to register your child and log in their books.

Please advise your class teacher, front office, or come and see Mrs. Tomazin in the library.

Please select the Good Shepherd Catholic School Lockridge tab.

Please also sign in your child’s name ( student name) as the certificate will be printed as per registration details.

There is a special early prize this year if we register before the 31st of May. We can be in the draw to win a visit from “DEWEY DEX” the Premier’s Reading Challenge mascot. Let’s do this again Good Shepherd and register our students.
